Doesn't surprise me the Chevy gets Poor headlight performance. I absolutely hate being around a new Tahoe or Escalade at night. Terrible light scatter and glare. I rented one recently and lemme say the visibility inside is a joke when there's that much glare. Cars with glass headlights from the 50s do better.

Considering people with these vehicles are some of the worst drivers on the road (right behind urban/city pickup truck drivers) who never use their blinker, never check their blind spot, never get out of the left lane on the freeway, you'd think they'd be safer to deal with all the crashes these people are constantly involved in

These oversized tanks don't make you safer and make everyone else on the road less safe, too. If you don't drive a small hatchback or sports car, you have no idea how scary they can be.

I cannot believe there isn't a crash test for pedestrian safety. I mean obvisouly all these large vehicles would score 0 stars, because they simply kill everything they hit.

Obviously the solution is to make them even bigger, taller, and heavier

SUVs should be banned or heavily taxed to discourage people from buying them and favoring station wagons. They're much better. They're not as heavy or big. Better blind spots, they're safer for pedestrians, bicycles, and other drivers. The NHTSA should implement the ECE standards for headlights because they're better and safer. Less glare to oncoming drivers, better light distribution., better alignment. Over 2000 lumens headlights must have auto headlight leveler and washer. And it allows matrix headlights. The ECE standard is more modern than the DOT.

It's amazing what behemoths the country of United States of America allows on their roads. It used to be that 4000 pounds was extremely heavy. I think some of these are now reaching over 7000 pounds. 7000 pounds of metal to transport one 175 pound person to the super market.

Instead of collision avoidance systems, I'm more fond of teaching people to be aware of their surroundings when crossing a street. The rest is natural selection

Bigger vehicle just means more mass in the equation which ironically does NOT make it safer in crashes than small vehicles.

Thats a very small overlap test, most new cars are V- shaped/ designed to push teh body away from that obstacle to not intrude into the cabin. On the other hand the US still uses these outdated guardrail ends that can be seen intruding into vehicles in a deadly way. Headlights glare on high mounted LED´s isnt great but US regulation also doesnt allow adaptive headlight tech....

And people still think they're safer because they're bigger, so they give their kids these huge SUVs as their first cars to keep them safe, meanwhile everyone is more at risk. THESE AREN'T TRUCKS STOP RATING THEM AS TRUCKS.
